Candy/a Good and Spacious Land2017

In this two-volume set, two artists and two writers explore the concept of the "model city" through the lens of New Haven, Connecticut. This collaboration grew out of a 2013 joint residency at the Yale University Art Gallery by acclaimed photographers Jim Goldberg (b. 1953) and Donovan Wylie (b. 1971). In Candy, Goldberg uses Super 8 film stills, images of New Haven's urban landscape, Polaroid portraits, and collaged archival material to create a layered reflection on 20th-century American cities that the artist calls a "photo-novel."
