Valérie Favre2014
by Marius Babias
For more than ten years, Valérie Favre has dealt with suicide as a subject in painting. As a result she has created more than one hundred small-format paintings, less illustrating death rather than exploring it visually as a social taboo. Favre draws on famous as well as fictional deaths of the past and present. With her paintings, abstaining from striking red, she creates a space of border crossing between life and death. For the first time, the series 'Selbstmord' is reproduced in its entirety in this publication.0Exhibition: Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, Germany (08.06-28.07.2013). 0.
