Tekenen in lockdown2020

by Philippe van Cauteren

It is visitors that breathe life into a museum. During lockdown, things were extremely quiet, also at S.M.A.K. Everyone was forced into isolation. Drawing is often a solitary activity. For this reason, at the end of March, S.M.A.K. invited as many people as possible to send in drawings. Anyone could participate: young and old, from amateurs to artists. The initiative was a way for the museum to keep in active contact with its visitors during this time of crisis. The numerous drawings that we were privileged to receive paint a compelling and diverse picture of how their makers experienced this remarkable period.
