Nils-Aslak Valkeapää / Áillohas2020

Henie Onstad Kunstsenter and Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum have created the largest retrospective exhibition about the Sami artist Nils-Aslak Valkeapää / Áillohas (1943-2001) to date. Áillohas is known to many as an actor in the film Ofelas (The Wizard) and for having yoiked during the opening of the Lillehammer Olympics. He is known by others as the first Sami author to receive the Nordic Council Literature Prize and the composer to receive the Prix Italia. But in Sápmi, Áillohas is a cultural icon and nation builder.
