Las repercusiones de la industria maquiladora de exportación en la salud1991

by Catalina A. Denman

"Divides random sample of 300 women who delivered at the Nogales hospital of the Instituto Mexicano de Seguro Social into two groups: women who worked in maquilas (n=169) and those employed in the service sector (n=131). Low birth weight risk factors coefficient correlates were calculated for groups. Results showed that maquila workers had a higher rate of low birth weights; however, sociodemographic characteristics differed so results should not be deemed conclusive"--Handbook of Latin American Studies, v. 57.
